Cody's Wake Up Smoothie
My most frequently asked question that is completely unrelated to 306 Fitness is WTF do you do with all the yogurt you make? LOL.
If you've been here awhile you know I LOVE making homemade yogurt in our Instant Pot. If you need the recipe for the Instant Pot Yogurt (IP Yogurt) we make at home, it's here! It's so easy, creamy, budget friendly, and delicious. However, you're right - it's just over 1 litre of yogurt which is a lot of yogurt HAHA. Shockingly, I've never thrown out a single spoon full. We use it all, every. Single. Time.
How?!
Our #1 use for IP Yogurt is SMOOTHIES. Dayton, Lily, & I all have smoothies 3-5 times a week. Today I want to share one of the two versions of smoothies we make the most - at home we call it "my smoothie", but for the purposes of this blog we're gonna call it Cody's Wake Up Smoothie.
I love having pre-measured smoothies in my Magic Bullet cups. We bought extra cups when Dayton started drinking smoothies in the morning too so we don't run out by the end of the week. Having a nutrient and protein packed smoothie in the morning is a key part of my morning routine that sets me up for success for the rest of the day.
Cody's Wake Up Smoothie
Ingredients
- 1/2 c orange juice
- 1/2 c yogurt
- handful of spinach
- 1 tsp chia seeds
- 1 tsp hemp hearts
- 1 tsp flax seeds (PS I pre-make a blend of chia/hemp/flax so that I can just throw a TBSP into my smoothie!)
- 1/4 c frozen mixed berries
- 1/4 c egg whites
- optional: 2 tsp bee pollen, scoop of greens powder (I love Om's Organic Greens Blend Powder but they've been sold out for awhile so I've been DIY'ing my own at home)
Directions
- Pop it in a blender and blend, baby.
- I usually pre-make 2-4 at a time. Keep 2 in the fridge, pop 2 in the freezer and pull out the day before.
I can promise you it's not the prettiest smoothie you'll ever drink, but you'll probably feel pretty great.
